OIE Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission considers amendments
The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission issued a report from the September 2012 meeting to discuss amendments to the Aquatic Animal Health Code (Code). The attached documents are existing chapters in the Code that were amended during that meeting. These documents may be forwarded to other commodity/industry groups or interested entities. Comments may be submitted to APHIS Veterinary Services on or before December 14, 2012 via email to USDA.
Except for the Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISA) Chapter, please focus only on the changes. Since the ISA Chapter has been significantly edited, all portions of that document are open for comment. The changes as proposed are reflected as double underlined (new text) or text that has a strike-through (deleted text). The Chapters available for comment are:
- Glossary (Note: this shows only the additional entry to the Glossary. All others remain the same.)
- Notification of Diseases and Epidemiological Information
- Criteria for Listing Aquatic Animal Diseases
- Diseases Listed by the OIE
- Infectious Salmon Anemia
For all submissions, please utilize the following procedures:
- Identify the specific Article and text on which you are commenting;
- Specify the proposed changes by providing suggested language that should replace existing language;
- Provide a scientific justification or rationale for such proposed changes.
The chapters will also be posted for comment on the Veterinary Services OIE web page.
